Checkweigh Audit System

A 3PL that ships 900 parcel orders per day needed to streamline the pick and pack process. They wanted a traditional checkweigh audit system to speed workflow and shipment accuracy with less labor. 

The problem? Over 80% of the products in their client’s product item master had placeholder dimensions and weights.

IQpack put a camera and scale at an induct station, inside existing workflow before final pack-out. Audits are collected in packchain. Failed orders route to an audit station, where mispicks are logged and corrected. Product dimensions are scanned and captured in packchain, where they are reviewed and pushed into the WMS.

This created a “self-healing” product item master, and first-pass yields from the checkweigh audit system jumped to 99.5% within weeks. Order complaints were virtually eliminated. Full-time audit staff dropped from three employees to one and capacity increased. A Perfect Item Master also dramatically reduced corrugate and transportation spend.
